Kubota B7800 Liberty Compatibility

I am interested in a chipper for my Kubota B7800 tractor. This is a 30 Hp tractor. Would I need front weights on the tractor? What is the realistic max diameter wood I can chip with my tractor w/o stalling? What is the shipping cost to Mount Horeb, Wisconsin? Thank you, David

———————————————

Hi David,

You would not need front weights installed on the chipper.  The chipper sits firmly on the ground, and your tractor, which weighs 1741 pounds, combined with the 800 pound wood chipper, are not going to budge when shredding anything.  When moving the chipper, you will want to be careful on hilly terrain, but there is no need for front weights.  The rear lift capacity for your chipper is 1655 lbs, which is more than twice the weight of the chipper.  If you were going to install a backhoe, you might want a frontloader or other front weight, but it is certainly not necessary for the chipper.

Liberty Wood Chipper for a JD 850

Does the product come fully assembled and ready to go? Also, I am a bit confused, is there both a 2 blade model and a 4 blade model? Finally, I have a JD 850, 22 HP tractor. Will I be pushing it if I get an 8\” chipper?

Thanks, Bill

—————————————-

Hi Bill,

The product is almost completely assembled.  You will have to attach the base, entry chute, and exhaust chute – it is very difficult to ship the chipper with these pieces attached, so we require the user to install them.  The chipper actually features 3 blades – one flat blade on the frame of the chipper, and two sharp cutting blades attached to the flywheel.  The JD 850 tractor can power both the Liberty 6″ and 8″ wood chipper.

Yanmar Wood Chipper Compatibility

Will your chipper work with a Yanmar 1401D 16 -17 HP ? How much assembly is needed? Thanks

—————————————————–

Our 6″ chipper will run on a Yanmar 1401D 16HP Tractor.  This tractor has a 540 RPM PTO as well as a 3 point hitch, which is all that is required to run the Liberty Wood Chippers.  Assembly is minor – you will put together the base, attach the chipper to the base, and attach the entry and exhaust chute.  You will also need to connect the chipper to your 3 point hitch, which is simple.

Self Feed and Reversable Feed on the Liberty Wood Chipper

Does your PTO chippers have: 1 Self feed, and reversable feed. Thanks.

——————————————

The liberty wood chipper does have self feed (auto-feed), which is driven by a belt.  The feed can be reversed by disengaging the clutch, but the reverse feed is not powered by the tractor itself.

Chipper Shipping Questions

Can you call or email us to arrange for us to meet the truck with the delivery? The chipper needs to be delivered to our farm land but no one lives there. We will need to meet the truck.

Also, when will the chipper be shipped?

—————————————

You will be emailed a tracking # on the day the chipper ships out, so that you can track the chipper as it makes progress and contact the shipper with special requests.  In cases like this, we will inform our shipper that they must call you 1-2 days before the shipment to schedule an exact time and date of the delivery to ensure that you will not have to spend any time at the property waiting around for the shipment.  They are usually willing to make an additional call after their truck has left for your destination, just to confirm everything.

Chipper Retailers

Do you have any retailers that sell your wood chipper in the state of Missouri?

————————————–

Liberty Chippers sells almost exclussively directly to the public.  While we do have retailers and distributors in some parts of the country, for the most part, we ship directly to the public.  We do not have any retailers in the state of Missouri.  This allows us to offer the chipper at such a competitive price — in general, most tractor dealerships won’t touch an item unless they make $1000-$2000 profit.  This would require the Liberty Chipper to sell for $3199 or higher, and our goal is to provide the chipper at a lower price point.

Liberty Chippers

TO: LIBERTY CHIPPERS.
Dear Sirs,

First of all we would like to inform you that we found you from your website. We have seen that you are selling PTO WOOD CHIPPERS for which we am interested in.  Kindly reply for the following questions:  Are wheels included in the offered price?  Is a PTO shaft included?  List of spare parts usually needed?  Availability of spare parts if needed?  Origin of wood chipper and availability?  Are you selling wood chipper not more than 4″ thickness?  Is an operator kit included?  Has the possibility to be hitched?  Payment terms?  lf so I would like to know the required transit time mentioning transportation cost and any other expenses involved.

————————————————————-

1)  Wheels are not included with this chipper, however it can easily be lifted into the air when you desire to move it.
2)  The PTO shaft is included in the price.
3)  We recommend purchasing an extra set of blades and an extra set of belts, so that if you have an issue you won’t need to wait a couple days for the replacement parts to ship out to you.
4) We keep all parts in stock, so we can almost always ship them out the day you order them.
5)  The chipper can chip wood up to 6-8″ inches in thickness.
6)  Yes, the chipper can be hitched to the tractor.
7)  We accept all major credit cards, as well as checks, money orders, wire transfers, Paypal, and Google Checkout.
8)  Transit time is usually 4-10 business days, depending on your distance from Phoenix, Arizona.  During the spring chipping season, shiptime can take an extra week or two.

Chipper Assembly

How much assembly is required between unpacking the crate and getting it (either the 6″ or 8″) to operate at the back of the tractor?  I notice the pictures and video have different safety-disengage levers.  Which are you currently selling?  Do you have any recommendations if I am torn between the 6″ and 8″ chippers?

———————————————————–

The assembly is fairly simple and straightforward.  Basically, you will be putting together the base, attaching the entrance chute and exhaust chute, and little else.  We currently use a model of the chipper with a yellow safety bar above the chipper.  Our testing has proved this to be the safest and most reliable design.  We have not filmed a new video since we made this change.  If you are torn between the 6″ and 8″ chipper, I highly recommend that you purchase the 8″.  You will probably get more use out of the chipper and the price difference is only $300.

Blade Questions

Hello.

I was just checking out your chippers and I was wondering if you have any video of them in actual use?  Also … Are the blades proprietary? Can the unit actually be transported via the 3pt hitch or does it need to be carried on forks and set into position and then attached? What size/type belt does the flywheel use?

——————-

You can video a video of the chipper in use on the front page of www.libertychippers.com.  Our blades are proprietary, however there are many aftermarket blades that will fit on our chipper.  In general, the aftermarket blades are fairly similar to the blades that we use on the Liberty Chipper, although ours tend to be a bit more durable.  The unit, which weighs around 800 pounds, is designed to be moved by the 3 point hitch.  Typically, tractors can elevate their 3 point hitch, which will lift this chipper into the air.  On most tractors, you can get around 2-3 feet of clearance below the chipper, which will allow you to move it across semi-rugged terrain.  The flywheel uses five 24″ belts.

Questions

I am interested in one of your pto chippers: couple of questions, one being is the unit a direct drive from the pto or is there a belt involved. Two I have a JD 3320 tractor is this big enough for the weight of your unit. Are the units available for shipment or do we have to wait for you to make the unit?

———————————————————————————

1)  The chipper is not a direct drive.  It uses two pulleys, connected by 5 belts, to add torque and power.  The PTO Drive turns the first pulley, which turns the second pulley, which turns the 180 pounds flywheel.  Another belt, combined with a gearbox, drives the autofeed system.

2) The JD3320 Tractor provides more than enough power to drive this chipper.

3) The units are currently available for shipment.

Wood Chipper Questions

Hello
I have a 25 horse Kubota tractor, what RPM would I use to run the 6″ chipper?
If I buy your chipper does the PTO shaft come with it or will I have to buy one and have it cut to fit? I live in Dundee New York, is the shipping still FREE or will I have to pay?

————————————————————————

1) You would run this chipper at 540 RPMs
2) The PTO shaft is included with the chipper, and we have different sizes for different tractors.  We will provide you with the correct PTO shaft for the Kubota 25 HP.

FAQ

Gentlemen.
I have a  1954 John Deere Model 60 tractor that puts out about 36 horsepower. It has a PTO that  goes about 530 RPM, Will your wood chipper work.?
Thanks,
Jack

—————————————

Hi Jack,

The Liberty Chipper will work on this particular John Deere Tractor, but only if you add a 3 point hitch.  The 530 RPM PTO (which probably really goes at 540 RPM) will drive the chipper, but the 3 point attachment is necessary to keep the chipper steady.  Theoretically, you could find another way to anchor the chipper down and still power it with this tractor.  Check out the hitches at http://www.tonystractors.com/jd3ph.htm
